Nitish Kumar was not rabble rouser like Mamta Banerji of West Bengal , betenoire of communists , not like Navin Patnaik enjoying the legacy of Biju Patnaik , Ms Jailalita donning now as Amma but pushed in wonderland of politics by her godfather M.G .Ramchandran . He was not privileged as Lalu Pd Yadav or Mulayam Singh Yadav, unquestioned cast leader of Yadavs , Sonia Gandhi & Rahul Gandhi inheritors of Nehru-Gandhi family or Narendra Mody ,show cased by BJP, boasting pantheon of political leaders to boot .You take the name of any political leader of past four decades & all had some major props to support them in the rough terrain of politics . Only Nitish Kumar having no big name to support him but survived in this queer land of politics in Bihar, where every iota of population breaths politics whether in a decrepit dhaba of remote village or main square of capital Patna. It makes Nitish Kumar , an enigma in the wonderland of politics .
Nitish Kumar is not simply ideologue but practiced body politic as a consummate player where politicians can dine with a devil if they are assured of power . In politics gore & blood of political opponent is 1st boundary conditions to be followed & Nitish Kumar didn't hesitate to poach Lalu Pd. Yadav' followers as & when opportunity came to him, but now sleeping together on political bed of 'mahagathbandhan' enjoying power . In politics when one becomes 'Chanakya' & 'Chadragupta' difficult to say but in the 1st tenure of Lalu Pd Yadav as chief minister in 1990 Nitish Kumar was in the role of ' Chanakya' to Lalu Pd . It was from 1995 to 2005 , the rule of Lalu-Rabri In the last ten years was worst spectacle of administrative rule experienced by the people of Bihar . His forte was only engineering . As an engineer myself simply marveled over his adroitness by seeing his capacity to see, changing definite science of engineering into art of engineering. First he thoroughly defeated Lalu Pd Yadav & now gearing to take on Narendra Mody !
