Khusrau Mirza was not son of Saleem & ManwatiBai but husband of the daughter of Rahim Khane-a-Khana one of the 'Navratan' of the court of Akbar . When he was denied the throne of Mughal empire , he was sulking & on the pretext of going to the tomb of Akbar at Sikndra near Mathura fled with 300 of his follower horsemen . He was manifested great hope by nobles at the court, by his grand father Akbar of waiting destiny & now only the suffocation & sympathy . He had also the bout of melancholia which he had perhaps inherited from his mother Manwati Bai who had poisoned herself in1604 by overdosing opium .Instead of going to Sikandra ,he fled to Lahore & in the way many chieftains with their small band of armies supported him.
Now what is the difference of 1606 & modern decade of 21st century of India . Roughly four hundred years have elapsed, in that period kingship was there & now democracy spawning election after election. Political personalities are hopping from one party to another giving weired reasons amounting to 'Bakwas'. In those four hundred years costumes have changed, landscape have changed , rule book of 'Nizam' have changed but instinct of taking chances for capitalisation of fortune has not changed . Khusrau Mirza was helped by band of armies but failed to take Lahore Fort. In the meantime Jehangir sent a big Mughal army to take care of Khusrau Mirza who was thoroughly defeated & was on the run. He was listless,hungry moving from place to place as piegeon to save himself from the hawks of Mughal king. Khusrau Mirza fled to Tarantaran , thinking to cross the river Chenab.
Guru Arjandevji was standing on the road,watching the spectacle applied 'Tika' on his forehead, a listless personality , invited him to his 'Dera' ,fed him & gave him 500 hundred rupees for further expenses . Guru Arjandevji 's fault was that minimal but invited the wrath of Mughal king . Guru Arjandevji was imposed heavy fine which the Sikh Guru refused to pay to Mughal treasury . He was brought to Lahore , handed over to Diwan Chandu Sah to realize the money or torture him to pay His unheard torture of medieval India , that too prevalent in western India in most barbaric fashion went for five days in full public glare to teach a lesson to on lookers. But instead of lesson , it spawned hatred & distaste of Sikh Kaum to Mughals for centuries which never was healed. It was great failure of the rein of Jehangir , albiet he was richest king, emperor in the contemporary kingdom of the world.
After facing so many tortures for five days very stoically, Guru Arjan Devji requested for a river bath in the river which was flowing nearby.He was granted this request, thinking preparators of crime , the blisters on his body will be inflamed causing him immense pain, but Guru Arjan Dev adopted 'Jal Samadhi' in the cold water of river Ravi in the full glaring view of his devotees performing martyrdom of highest order !
